Whitney and Mike have known each other for almost their entire lives — they met in elementary school as Mike was Whitney’s older brother’s best friend. They were just friends for the first decade or so of their relationship. But Mike said he always had a thing for Whitney — he was in love with her from the beginning. And, of course, those true feelings came out the older they got.
They are SO cute together — and are planning a winter wedding. They thought a springtime engagement shoot would be a nice compliment to their winter wedding. And I agree! After having to cancel the shoot once for a fluke spring snowstorm, we got a spectacular day. They are both Colorado natives, so this spot was absolutely fitting for them.

I am sitting at my desk this morning watching the snow fall. And as I edit images from this shoot it feels like it was all a dream…. how could it have been 80 degrees just 48 hours earlier? But as they say in Colorado, if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes.
But we didn’t have to wait for anything on Sunday– we awoke to a perfect day and I LOVE the way Denver looks this time of year. So full of life with all the beautiful blooms.
And these two were gorgeousness in front of the camera– every shot is my favorite! Kendal knows a thing or two about being photographed– because she is a photographer herself! She studied at the Art Institute with an emphasis in fashion. I can’t wait to see all the beautiful things she is incorporating into the wedding–I know their day is going to be spectacular! I asked Jon what he is most looking forward to on their wedding day… he said he is most excited to see Kendal for the first time (and I know she will take his breath away!), and is also so happy to have all the family together in one place celebrating their special occasion.
Congrats you two!

Denver had the most gorgeous Spring weekend in history- sunny skies, warm temperatures, and the heavenly scent of purple blooms wafting in the air signaling that Spring had finally arrived. Tori and Ben planned a meaningful engagement session– I love the family heriloom camera that Tori brought along– it has been in her family for years and is especially sentimental as Tori is also a photographer. And a talented one at that!
This couple has a bubbling personality and continually feed off each other’s energy. Ben making Tori laugh nonstop and Tori bringing bountiful amounts of positivity to every frame. Being around this couple makes you HAPPY!
They are planning a SHORT engagement– only four months… so excited to see them again soon in JUNE for the big day!

On a wintry mountain afternoon, Crystal, Adam, and I set out for their engagement photos in Steamboat Springs… they planned all sorts of fun details to make a it cozy, snowy shoot. They LOVE snow and will be getting married in next January at Devil’s Thumb Ranch. And, I think they will get their wish for snow on their wedding day
.
I also love the story of how they met. Crystal and Adam both left corporate America to volunteer overseas — they met at orientation and then headed separate directions….Crystal to Cambodia and Adam to Uganda. But, that initial connection was strong and they kept in touch, planning a first date three months later by meeting halfway in India. Oh the experiences this couple has had!
They often plan little surprises for each other– after our Steamboat shoot, I asked them where they were going to stay…. and Crystal had no idea! Adam told her they were not staying at home, nor in Steamboat. He planned a surprise mini-vacation weekend at their wedding venue, Devil’s Thumb Ranch. They enjoyed the guest experience there for a couple days — and I am sure got even more excited to return again on their wedding weekend!

A gray winter day turned into a sunny afternoon for our shoot. I loved chatting with Valerie and Joe about their wedding plans, travel, architecture, and work. SO excited for their Montana wedding in September. Congrats you two!![]()
Rachel fell in love with the Ice Castles in Silverthorne, Colorado and knew it would be the perfect location for her and Scott’s engagement photos. We had some light snow on and off which made everything feel magical. A special, cozy afternoon in the mountains.![]()
